"Using Social Science in the Courtroom”


Dr. Jacoba Rock, PhD, LCSW, is a clinical faculty member at the Boise State University School of Social Work. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies, with a doctoral minor in Criminology, and a Master of Social Work degree. as well as certifications in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

For the past 15 years, she has been fortunate to practice as a forensic social worker and social science expert on cases of juveniles and young adults facing or serving life, virtual life, or capital sentences across the country, also offering evidence-based trainings for attorneys, judges, criminal and juvenile justice administrators, and correctional staff on trauma-informed care, developmental considerations, and systemic issues.

Dr. Rock is an advocate for meaningful and supported reentry opportunities, family involvement, mental health service access, de-implementation, and holistic and community-based solutions.
