"Using Social Science in the Courtroom”
Baeley Hathaway is a juvenile public defender in Ada County.
She graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in the spring of 2021 after studying Spanish, linguistics, and argument and rhetoric in undergrad.
Baeley is passionate about children's rights, particularly foster children. Baeley has been a foster parent since 2022. Baeley strives to bring social work principles into her practice as an attorney, knowing that children's law requires thinking outside of the box, considering social and cultural influences, and taking a holistic view of the juvenile to achieve the best outcome.
Baeley's experience representing juveniles while being a foster parent has given her a unique perspective on the importance of taking a multidisciplinary approach to her practice as a public defender, and hopes to share the value in this approach with other defenders.
